The Centre cannot hold

The Centre is holding
Anne Lamott

Late last week, I went for a brisk walk to shake off a growing sense of apprehension and stop the running tape of doom and gloom in my head. I  cannot recall feeling this unsettled about the state of the world as I do now. I avoid political issues in this blog but the threats  and manipulations from our neighbour to the south- specifically the man who inhabits 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue- are alarming.  We are facing an adversary who is supposed to be our ally and friend.

In the war of words, truth has been the first casualty. The world as we know it, is falling away- giving way to something hard to imagine.  Will the centre hold?

There is a rough road ahead, but I refuse to yield to my worst fears.  This land we call Canada is strong and free.

Let’s stand together- with resolve, with compassion for those who need our help, and with commitment to a better present and future.

The following YouTube, We Are Canadian, resonated with me. Maybe it will for you too.

There is humour to make you smile and there is utter seriousness in declaring who we are and what we stand for. I am so proud to be Canadian. We are fortunate to live in this great land that stretches from sea to sea to sea.

May we never take it for granted.
May sanity and common sense prevail.
May the centre hold.
